FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What do I wear to a Zumba class?

It is advisable to wear something that is comfortable and not too restrictive.  A pair of gym trousers/leggings and a t-shirt or vest top would be recommended.  It is also recommended that you  wear comfortable shoes that have plenty of cushion and support. An aerobic/dance type trainer is advisable or a pair of jazz sneakers.  Some cross-training shoes are appropriate but try and avoid a running shoe as they can be restrictive when doing side to side movements.

Q. Why does the instructor not speak?

Zumba is all about the music, therefore the instructor uses visual cues to direct the class.  If you are used to going to a regular aerobics/fitness class then you will be used to the instructor giving both verbal and visual cues.  A Zumba class is different, there are no complicated steps, it should be easy to follow and repetitive, so much so that the instructor does not have to speak. All Zumba instructors are taught in their training not to speak and that no microphone is required in a Zumba class:-)
